So there will be some seats where Reform and the SDP stand against each other. I wonder how many will have both SDP and Liberal?

Whatever it was that happened, happened before the person started filming. The implication is that he was attacked by a booliak and he legitimately took reasonable action to debooliakify the situation.

I don't know what happened but if you are an MP you have to keep your cool better than that in public. Even if the whole thing is 100% not your fault. He's totally lost his shit.

Despite pious comments like yours in the press, Prescott was cheered on by most of the public for decking the bloke who attacked him. MPs are increasingly being threatened, and are entitled to defend themselves.

It all depends on what happened. It may be that the other man was very aggressive and very threatening, and perhaps needed to be spoken to in that manner in order to prevent the situation escalating. Whatever it was that happened exactly, I guess that the amount of debooliakification was probably very proportionate to, and carefully calibrated to, the level of booliakness.

While I absolutely agree that you should walk away, he has also been harrassed and stalked by at least one person in his parliamentary career so far to the extent of the police being involved (on his side). The charming individual turned up to his constituency office asking, among other things, if they considered that their security was adequate.

I think there always have been, but we hear more about it and it is easier to contact people in multiple ways via electronic means.
When I was researching the history of our theatre building, I came across a case in the middle of the Second World War when a woman was arrested for constantly contacting (by post and phone) a man whose buisiness was in our street .
There is , in public and commercial life a more general expectation of accessiblity, which has obvious implications for personal safety.

It would really help if we knew what the bloke had said to provoke this. I guess we’ll have to wait for a court case if it comes to that.
