Even if he felt threatened, it's hard to see how he hasn't broken the law here.

Oh dear. That looks very bad. It would, if Tom Harwood would be a reliable source about anything. There's literally a video.

It would really help if we knew what the bloke had said to provoke this. I guess we’ll have to wait for a court case if it comes to that. "This seat should have been called Mersey Banks".

There's literally a video. Ever heard of deepfakes? Yes. But enough of Keir Starmer's register of interests.

There's literally a video. Ever heard of deepfakes? Can we leave this nonsense alone please? There is video here, unless there is evidence to the contrary take it as real. Indeed, Labour have just suspended him, so to assume it's real is the correct course.

He's had the whip withdrawn for the while, which is as you'd expect. This is clearly rather serious, but we don't know anything like the full story (and perhaps won't for a while, depending) so it's best not to speculate much.

There's literally a video. Ever heard of deepfakes? A deepfake showing him punching a man to the ground?

I I would say potentially rather than rather serious. I think MPs have a right to defend themselves.

The BBC draws attention to a previous court case for stalking and harassment in this location last year following a complaint by the MP. An educated guess would suggest that this involves the same person? However assault isn’t an acceptable response.

We can't discount that someone who is terminally online has chosen to take internet trolling into the streets. If it is self defense then maybe we need to look at how on earth MPs are supposed to conduct themselves in the current temperament.

I'm not sure how he can claim self-defence when that video appears to just show a guy talking to him.

You can't go around punching people full force in the face and then throwing more punches whilst the other person is on the ground for anything that is not an immediate physical threat. He's got some explaining to do because it's not apparent on that video. I said in response to the last video that he was clearly dangerously out of control. Very obviously drunk and totally lost his temper. And you just can't do that. I'm glad to be proven correct.

This is outright thug behaviour and there is no way the tribal loyalists talk their way out of this soaking wet paper bag. He is clearly now a 'goner'.
Gentlemen we have our by-election. It is just a matter of time now.
Labour majority is large but I think we in Reform might fancy our chances under these circumstances with Labour having chosen a prize Yob in July for them.
This might be a champaign moment?

A by-election is now extremely likely. But I wouldn't get my hopes up for an actual win if I were Reform. Runcorn is a very heavily Labour town these days & the anti-Labour vote could be pretty split too.
