How many judicial recounts are we looking at this year?

I fear that this election sees the end of the PC tendency. Where now for the Red Tory in its true homeland? That ship sailed with the merger back in '03. Why do you think most of the Red Tories had quit? More clung on than you'd imagine. But clearly the death of the PC brand on a federal level has killed off any chance of a Tory revival in the Maritimes.

How many judicial recounts are we looking at this year? Judicial recounts if the election is decided by less than one in one thousand votes (ie 0.1% majority). Doesn't seem as though there are. The NDP gained Elmwood-Transcona by 51 votes which is 0.119%. The Liberals gained Edmonton Mill Woods by 80 votes which is 0.162%. The NDP also gained Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River by 70 votes which is 0.232%.

The Alliance/Reform takeover is now complete...

Just seen the Liberal manifesto. They've pledged that this will be the last election done under FPTP. Unlike Labour in '97 I think there's a better than good chance they'll follow through on it too as the electorate is so volatile, getting a majority next time could be very tricky. Among the postulated alternatives are PR and AV (or ranked voting as they call it).
'We are committed to ensuring that 2015 will be the last federal election conducted under the first-past-the-post voting system.
We will convene an all-party Parliamentary committee to review a wide variety of reforms, such as ranked ballots, proportional representation, mandatory voting, and online voting.
This committee will deliver its recommendations to Parliament. Within 18 months of forming government, we will introduce legislation to enact electoral reform.'

Regarding the Red Tories, some of them are literally Liberal MPs now. Though regarding the Maritimes in general if the Biebertrudeau government does anything to annoy them (as the Cretin government did) then the electorate there will turn on the Liberals without hesitation.

Thomas Mulcair is staying on as NDP leader. Pretty hard to justify, given he lost more seats since the last election that the NDP had ever previously won. www.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/10/21/mulcair-ndp-long-haul_n_8351974.htmlMy favourite quote from this article: "I think it would be, frankly, foolhardy right now to be looking at a new leader and we should be consolidating the gains we made," Dewar said. "Particularly when you look at British Columbia, Saskatchewan, these were really important gains."

Alternatively he can argue that he lead the party to one of its best ever results and could note how badly the NDP fell apart after their previous high water mark in 1988. The correct sentiment would be somewhere between, of course.

Formerly I was wondering, that BarbieBoy didn't get more approval from his French mates. Obviously obsolete.
