She's quite savvy - she's locked out her twitter account so political enemies (her words) cant use her past witterings against her (and theres plenty). Despite that, she is a nice enough person - I would say on the borderline between the rational and fruitcake wings of the SNP. But mummy dearest hasn't locked hers. this looks almost like an STV page, but not wuite ahdinnaeken.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/natalie-mcgarry-election-candidate-01.jpg

I have the feeling that Holyrood will never become one of the great debating chambers of legislators, has their actually been a decent speech made there. Yes, but they are few and far between. It is one of my great laments about Holyrood that it has picked up some of the Commons' worst habits (FMQs/partisan debating/panto atmosphere) with very few of its good ones.

On its best days, FMQs at Holyrood is considerably worse than PMQs at Westminster on one of its worst.

FMQs is an embarassment. If the opposition want to be effective, they need to stop treating it like PMQs. Eck knows how to play the Westminster game and is better at it than any of them. The only opposition leader who has actually done well at FMQs was Annabelle Goldie and that's because she adopted a different tact to the norm.

What bothers me more is how poor the committees are, especially in contrast to the role imagined at the outset.

The committees have suffered badly from the rigid party discipline at Holyrood. Proper scrutiny is impossible when MSPs are whipped to within an inch of their lives. It really is a sad reflection of the reality of devolution after what was originally envisaged.

I wish we could have the 2003-2007 parliament back.

Why? It was hardly a beacon of considered democratic thought. It just had a Bureau with more parties on it.
