I trust that the last entry will be disregarded, as it alone was able to benefit from Andrew’s Previews but even more pertinently the revelation that the LDs were seriously working Strathallan that nobody else had any idea about before late on polling day

9 entries to close the month. Sanders is timed out for posting nearly 13 hours over the deadline (but as is custom I've included his predictions in the weekly total) and kevinf receives 2 faults for going under in Herefordshire. Rhyl Trellewelyn, Denbighshire: 9 Labour hold, with majorities ranging from 4% (manchesterman) to 22% (batman). Sanders Conservative gain with majority of 3%. Stretton, East Staffordshire: 100% Conservative hold, with majorities ranging from 6% (kevinf) to 26% (sanders). Credenhill, Herefordshire: 9 Conservative gain from Independent, with majorities ranging from 1% (corradino) to 17% (Robert Waller). Batman Independent (Jones) win with 5% majority. Cromarty Firth, Highland: 7 with Liberal Democrats ahead on first preferences, with batman, corradino and iainbhx SNP ahead. 8 with Liberal Democrat hold and SNP gain from Highland Independent after transfers, with batman and kevinf Liberal Democrat hold and Independent (Rattray) win. Inverness Central, Highland: 5 with Labour ahead on first preferences and hold after transfers, corradino, iainbhx and Right Leaning SNP ahead on firsts and gain after transfers, and sanders and Tony Otim with SNP ahead on firsts and Labour hold after transfers. Barnfield, Luton: 100% Liberal Democrat hold, with majorities ranging from 11% (corradino) to 36% (kevinf). Wigmore, Luton: 100% Liberal Democrat hold, with majorities ranging from 15% (sanders) to 50% (kevinf). Perth City North, Perth and Kinross: 100% SNP ahead on first preferences and gain from Labour after transfers, with first preference majorities ranging from 16% (batman and Robert Waller) to 29% (corradino). Strathallan, Perth and Kinross: 9 Conservative ahead on first preferences and hold after transfers, with first preference majorities ranging from 4% (batman) to 18% (manchesterman). Sanders Liberal Democrats ahead on firsts and gain after transfers with first pref majority of 8%. Results available at - docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WiFjZJRHoN7CTdBhTGFR60dfc5Do5vtvAoZEH9f00Rg/edit?usp=sharing - good luck to all with a few still to go!

A very convincing monthly win for iainbhx with such a large sample size. Also congrats to andrewp for this difficult week and a clear second for the month. I shall try to update the form table later today.

And now for October where the worst week is when I‘m supposed to be on holiday.

Put in your predictions early Iain, that's what I did when I went on holiday earlier this month, unless you want to interrupt your holiday (surely not?)

I think we should change it. Predictions up to close of poll. That might encourage more competition entries.

No I disagree. The present system is better. As things stand we have to work things out largely for ourselves & are not much influenced by rumours that such-and-such a party is working particularly hard, or so on. Forecasting is just that, it's an attempt to say what the result be BEFORE polling day although of course there are postal votes going in before that. If we have particular knowledge of an area, and others don't, well that can happen and is just one of those things.
