Next Thursday in Stockton we have a double vacancy. Are we predicting individuals, or ‘slates’ if you count the Ind and ND as a slate? robbienicoll . I think previous arrangements would indicate that we predict slates and treat the Ind and ND not as a slate? Top vote for the slates, Independents and No Descriptions are treated separately. This also counts for the Reform UK slate in the Highlands next week.

Your prediction is close enough that it could easily be a split result, but you'd need to specify this to avoid wrong winner faults...

I think that is rather harsh and uncalled for. Slip ups like this are actually astonishingly easy, especially if you are in a bit of a rush to post.

It is just accurate. Modern generations are much more slipshod and careless in everything. This is just one exemplar of it. Poor English structure and spelling. No proof reading. Very bad punctuation. Tendency to being innumerate and verging on illiterate. Heavy reliance on being tidied up by auto-systems. Obsession with concision and quantity and speed of response way over quality of content and considered judgement.

Just within the last week or so I have spotted a couple of typographical errors in my Yellow Book of Poems - page 101 has a space missing between the hyphen and “1943”, and page 103 line 2 has an S missing after the apostrophe after “Atlantic”.

I empathize John in that never-ending task. It needs to be proof read at least three times, preferably by efficient careful third parties. It you had been published by a quality real publisher that would have been attended to.

I've never entered the competition and so not read the rules and may have misunderstood how it is calculated.
If it is based on the difference between a predicted percentage share for each candidate and the share they actually achieve then wouldn't it be simpler for the the volunteers running it to accept all entries, mistakes and all? It's more likely to make the prediction less accurate anyway.
