Very few like a show off. He works at The Cock Tavern. Well that's a big red flag right there. The Chesham Arms is a much better pub.

Somebody stood as "New Labour" in Cardiff South and Penarth at the 1997 GE and got nearly 4k votes. But in that case, they actually appeared as such on the ballot paper.

He could have saved us from reading all those words and just written "Hallo, I'm mental"

No imprint? Unlikely to be problematic as it’s clear who he is and how to contact him etc.
Interestingly he uses the phrase “Election Communication” I doubt this was delivered by the Royal Mail though? Presumably he’s not that organised/knowledgable.
But still he got some use out of that professional photo shoot.

I thought the imprint was legally essential even if all details already appear in the leaflet.

You need an imprint by law on all printed material, however given this leaflet isn’t libellous nor is it hiding who published it, I can’t see the electoral commission/police bothering especially given it’s now the last week of the election and this is a well meaning (all be it exentric) candidate on his first outing.

All that is omitted is the words "printed by and on behalf of".

The photos remind me of a chap I knew in Hong Kong who had a "side hustle" in bitpart acting.

Am I the only one who almost hears Trump's voice (or at a Trump impersonator) reading some of those sentences...

For those who remember it, his look and turn of phrase are remarkably similar to mid-2000s comedy character Garth Marenghi.

There was a lot of talk about Abbott's health. Is this seat likely to be an early by-election?

It would be a fun by-election but @weld would be unbearable (I mean even more so)

Please stop this. I made the mistake of morbidly speculating about Kaufman when he was Father of the House. I wish Diane well. Green Party will surge here in 2026.

Saw her speech - she rather looked like a woman in her late 40s. She was shaking a little - well, her right hand was - but then is it any wonder? the most abused vilified and threatened member of Parliament ever, by country mile, and recently ignored by Mr Hoyle despite rising to her feet 44 times in a debate about herself. Then by convention having to praise him.
The caged bird will sing for some time yet.

There was a lot of talk about Abbott's health. Is this seat likely to be an early by-election? Just because she’s old and ill doesn’t mean she’s very old or exceptionally ill. Experience over the last four decades shows that by-elections are caused by the deaths of MPs in their 40s 50s and 60s just as much as those in their 70s or 80s.
