Why would Labour fail to exceed its 2015 vote share given current polls in Scotland? Tactical voting against the SNP and towards the Conservatives, and against the Conservatives and towards the SNP. Bear in mind Labour only took 13% of the vote in Ayr, Carrick & Cumnock in 2019.Yes, but in so many places it was a fairly freakish election. Not disagreeing it is still almost certainly an SNP/Tory battle next time, but Labour could very plausibly have a major say in the outcome.

I was just responding to the question as to why Labour might not perform as well in the constituency as they did in 2015, but equally as I've said before there is a realistic possibility that Labour could gain the seat.

I have only just found out that the defeated Tory candidate in Hull, former councillor John Fareham, is none other than the estranged husband of Dehenna Davison MP. This is remarkable because she is still only 30, but he is 65. Of course, had she decided to use her married name, she would have joined the select band of MPs whose surnames are also present-day constituencies.
