[br One or two prediction entries rather a long way off there This was a LD gain in a by-election previously; not surprising given the current popularity of the government.

[br One or two prediction entries rather a long way off there Lib Dems maintain their momentum following last by-election and will probably fancy their chances of taking the third seat in the ward next year.

That would just leave Buckinghamshire and possibly Barra due tonight?

No, because I don't do betting, and because it would have been an abuse of privileged information What information would you have that would stop you placing a bet? You have no idea what the result is. You can speculate as much as the next person can. From Monday of this week, I was scrutinising the staff processing the incoming postal votes. That means I might have inadvertently and accidentally noticed how some people had voted, due to the fact that the ballot papers are thin enough to see through to notice the indentations on the other side. Thusly I knew more about the likely result of the by-election than most other people.

[br One or two prediction entries rather a long way off there Yes, I never expected the SDP to beat the Yorkshire Party.

Wow, did not see that one coming. And from the looks of it, nor did anyone else here. I didn’t, until I belatedly read that the Lib Dem candidate was the retired headteacher of one of the village primary schools.
