Think my final prediction is Monmouthshire+Torfaen Newport East+West Blaenau Gwent+Merthyr Caerphilly+Pontypridd Cardiff E+N Cardiff S+W Vale+Bridgend Rhondda+Aberafan Neath+Brecon Swansea W+Gower Llanelli+Carmarthen Pembrokeshire+Ceredigion Montgomeryshire+Wrexham Clwyd East+Alyn and Deeside Clwyd North+Aberconwy Ynys Mon+Meirionydd A thought occurs. Will they create monolingual names or bilingual ones? They could be longer than Canadian ridings!

They have said that they will consider new simpler names rather than just lump existing ones together: 'Brecon, Radnorshire, Cwmtawe, Neath & Swansea East;Brycheiniog, Maesyfed, Cwmtawe, Nedd ac Abertawe Dwyrain' is a little bit of a mouthful...

I suspect some ancient names might suit. Deheubarth for example.

The Welsh have fortified their right to self government, intervene now. I really hope you mean "forfeited" here, although this stitch-up isn't the fault of 3+ million people. The proposed change might require the Senedd building to have to be fortified though.

I've sent off my alternative names. In my submission I've recommended they use the em dash (—) as I think happens in Canada.
Aberconwy—Ynys Môn Clwyd Flintshire East—Wrexham South Gwynedd—North Powys Ceredigion—Pembrokeshire Carmarthenshire Swansea West—Gower South Powys—Neath Mid Glamorgan North Glamorgan West Gwent East Gwent Newport—Islwyn Cardiff North Eastern Cardiff South Western South Glamorgan

Proposals and report. The link to the interactive map and consultation page won't be live until 10:30 this morning. So they've gone for the Bangor option for Ynys Môn. I think the other option works out better in the rest of North Wales, but I am not surprised they have made the decision that they have. The rest is much as I expected. As for the names: 1. Conwy Ynys Môn. Bangor has often not been mentioned in constituency names, and you would expect it to be in a constituency which covered those two places. 2. I'll go along with "Clwyd" for now, though it doesn't cover anything like all of the ceremonial county. 3. Wrexham & Deeside. 4. Ugh. I tentatively suggest Eryri Berwyn (Snowdonia & Berwyn) but I don't know how that would go down in southern Montgomeryshire. 5. The Commission's name is good. 6. The Commission's name is good. 7. I'd probably go along with the Commission's name. 8. Ugh again. How about naming it for some of its rivers: Tawe, Usk & Wye? 9. Not sure, maybe just "Aberafan Rhondda"? Or would "Central Glamorgan" be an awful name? I don't think Maesteg needs a name check; it was in an Ogmore constituency until the review. 10. I'll go with the rivers again: Taf Cynon. Or would that little south-western salient dislike that? 11. West Gwent? 12. The suggested name isn't that bad, or if West Gwent flies for 11 this could be East Gwent. 13. I'd probably go along with the Commission here. 14. No need for the "and": Cardiff North East. 15. Cardiff South West. 16. How about "Southern Glamorgan", not "South" as it doesn't match the ceremonial county. (NB I hadn't read doktorb🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️'s post before submitting this one. I note we have some common ground.)

I find the Brecon and Neath proposal ridiculous. It is driven entirely by the Cwmtawe appendage. If this didn't exist there is no way this would be considered.
A far better solution would be to link Brecon with Caerfyrddin along the A40.
This would result in a Llanelli & Gower constituency and a Swansea & Neath constituency which both work well.

I did consider rivers for the Valleys seats. If Wikipedia editors want to know why there's a spike in readership of the article on the former Taff-Ely district, that's why.
