It looks like at least 32 by-elections for 33 seats on 8 June as with a possibility of a further 2 where a known vacancy exists will not be held on that date. In addition there will 3 deferred elections following the deaths of candidates ahead of the 4 May elections.
By-elections are due to the resignation of the previous councillor unless ^ indicates a death whilst ^^ indicates an invalid nomination at a previous by-election.

Maureen Rowles , Labour councillor for Brinnington and Central ward on Stockport UA has sadly died I remember Maureen with great fondness, a real diamond of a lady and truly kind. She had been a councillor a year when I joined the party and she used to have a wry smile for many of the shenanigans that went on in the party in the early eighties. A life dedicated to public service and her family, it is like a piece of my history has disappeared. May she rest in peace. |

The Lib Dems have failed to nominate a candidate in Llandyfriog (Ceredigion) to replace their late candidate and there are no new candidates, so the PC candidate (James Thomas) is returned unopposed - resulting in a PC hold in this seat, previously held by Towyn Evans.

Does any one know the nominations for West Lancashire, Augthon Park? It is the only known by-election on 8 June where the SOPN has not been published on the council website.

Looking at the West Lancs website one is forced to assume either West Lancs are a complete shower, or they don't have any candidates? Their last item is a request for nominations!
