Townsville has been called for Labor, giving them 48. Only Hichinbrook remains, and it will almost certainly go to Katter, leaving the LNP with 39.
Labor 48 Liberal National Party 39-40 Katter's Australian Party 2-3 Greens 1 One Nation 1 Independent 1

The LNP has now sensibly conceded defeat – by which they must mean they've accepted the ALP has won an outright majority (it was clear that Labor would definitely end up as the largest party well over a week ago).

Great. The buffoon who want to ban to ban video games because they are a gateway to gambling.
He got his career launched in the 90's with his "No Pokies" party and now lives from seeing gambling everywhere, like Geoffrey Dickens saw paedophiles everywhere. He's a threat to liberalism.

Does 'pokies' mean the same thing in Australia as it does here? (in which case why would any red-blooded Aussie male have any objections?)

Xenophon is muppet even by the standard of the assorted lunatics often involved in small parties in Australia.
PS: Not sure if Pete was being serious but "Pokies" are gaming machines.

Pokies or slots or slot machines or gaming machines or video lottery machines. Seems every country has its way of naming them.

I did realise only after I'd posted that it probably referred to Poker machines, abbreviated in the classic Aussie fashion. I shouldn't have thought a South Australian would want to ban 'my' kind of pokies, but maybe a Victorian would..

I think he is absolutely right on the gambling issue. The havoc that those machines have caused in some poverty stricken areas are often overlooked.
The rest of his programme appears to be pretty middle of the road bar the wind turbine issue?

Tasmania reelected the Liberals! That's not more than the second time in his/her history!
As usual the final distribution isn't known, but the Lib. will get at least 13, probably 14 (-1). The Greens lost votes and seats to Labor.

Keep in mind that there are still many votes to count in Tasmania. Keep watching.

Keep in mind that there are still many votes to count in Tasmania. Keep watching. Australia's absolute authority Anthony [Wells, ABC] has called it for the Lib.s. 13:8:1, 3 undecided. 84.3% counted.

I was not talking about the Liberals having won again-I was talking about seat totals for all the parties.

Antony Green projecting that Liberals have ended the 16-year Labor government in South Australia, with 24/47 seats assured. Having looked very competitive at the outset (see upthread) Nick Xenophon's SA Best is running at an underwhelming 14% primary vote and looks like it will win 2 seats at best, quite possibly none - and Xenophon himself is well behind the incumbent Liberal on 2pp in the seat he is contesting.
