I'm going to contest this one as an independent, if only to annoy Boogie.

(And even further if you move to Sandwell) I'm in Sandwell right now, but I'm back and forward a lot. Maybe about two thirds down here and one third up there at the moment. The plan is just to travel around and explore England a bit. Once Scotland has overwhelmingly voted for independence, I'll be moving back up there. As for Oban South and the Isles, I'll make a trip of it. Spend a couple of nights on Mull, Coll and Tiree. EDIT I don't know, is it too silly to stand? I am considering a jab at Argyll and Bute next year as an independent as well, so it could make sense in building up to that, but I can't deny that I'm rather "out of the country" at the moment.

Do you still meet any of the qualifications for standing?

I'm registered to vote at my primary address in Rothesay, so yes.

News from Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. Mike Davies, who was elected in Sandfields East division in the byelection only last October, has died.

I figure I'll sit this one out. I want to focus on enjoying England while I'm down here. I'll figure out where to stand in the next GE later.

Ribble Valley. It's like Rothesay, if you squint.

Cllr Philip Parkin (Con, Sutton Trinity) has resigned. I know no more at this point, but as his seat was not up until 2016, I presume a double vacancy on the 22nd of May.

It varies between shitholes and abject shitholes I'd put places in sandwell (and several other northern boroughs like Salford) into three categories. 1. Places that will occasionally switch between councillors of different parties (including labour), or were marginal at any point. 2. Places where a pot plant with a red rosette on would get elected. 3. Places which always elect a councillor other than labour (small number of these, unfortunately). In Sandwell, the number is 0.
