Her office is important - MP still means something. It would add to it if she had any national profile, but being a Labour MP is part of the permission mechanism. No. It's bollocks. Sorry. You might want Labour to win this as the less far left option, but it's moonshine to think this ex Labour MP will make an iota of difference. I have no dog here, and my point was if anything pro-Green

Let's all remind ourselves shall we, this is the same Thelma Walker who finished a single vote ahead of a convicted paedophile at the 2021 Hartlepool byelection. It may well be that all ex-MP endorsements for a different party have value, but equally some have more value than others.

I saw on X someone saying that Debonnaire is preparing to hand over her brief to an incoming minister rather than preparing to enter government herself. We’ll see

To repeat. She’s a former Labour MP who is now backing/a member of the Greens. That’s an endorsement plus the others (which includes Short) if I was mulling voting Green but thinking ‘why bother they’re small what’s the point etc) a list of endorsements like this including two ex-Labour MPs is powerful. The leaflet isn’t just about her, she is a very small part of it. A one-term, party hack, from West Riding Yorkshire, who is sufficiently batty to have supported a mad outfit in a by-election, is not worth a wet paper bag in Bristol. You are the nearest the forum has to somebody who is the complete opposite of the average voter in Bristol Central. So you are particularly badly placed to judge what something is worth in the campaign here. Yes, most of the electorate here will not have heard of Themla Walker before. But unlike you, they do know exactly who Carla Denyer is. And will probably have a positive view of the fact that she got an endorsement from somebody who used to be a former Labour MP.
The point of including that endorsement on the leaflet is to reassure Labour-Green swing voters (who will decide this seat) that it's OK to vote Green in a General Election. Most of the leaflet is examples of people like you* voting for Carla. By including endorsements from two different former Labour MPs it reinforces that message that it's OK to vote Green in this seat, even if you've tended to vote Labour in national elections. If we don't get that message across to the electorate here then Bristol Central will stay safely Labour. If we do then the seat is actually in play and who wins will depend on whether our other messages or Labour's messages are better received by the electorate.
* by "you" I mean the voters this leaflet is being delivered to, rather than the members of this forum discussing it.

Clare Short making an endorsement will have some impact I suspect, as she was somebody. The second MP, who I'd forgotten if I ever knew her will have very limited impact with her endorsement.

And the replies seem to be entirely made up of people pointing out that Labour's NHS plans do include some privatisation.

Am I imagining things or did he try and get selected in Leigh? If he was selected then that could have been Reform’s 6th seat…

Absolutely shameful that the broadcasters to my knowledge didn’t show the declaration here or Waveney Valley (party co-leaders, in case they don’t know) and made little mention of North Herefordshire.
And yet permanent footage of Farage in a restaurant/bar in Clacton.

Apologies if this has been asked/answered before. Would the Tories have won this seat in 1992?
