Absolutely shameful that the broadcasters to my knowledge didn’t show the declaration here or Waveney Valley (party co-leaders, in case they don’t know) and made little mention of North Herefordshire. And yet permanent footage of Farage in a restaurant/bar in Clacton. They actually don't like the Greens?

Apologies if this has been asked/answered before. Would the Tories have won this seat in 1992? Yes they would have. I’m not sure they would have won in 1992 on the 2010-24 boundaries.

And yet permanent footage of Farage in a restaurant/bar in Clacton. Let's not mince words - after the initial reveal of the exit poll (which they actually carried off better than the other channels) the BBC election coverage was an absolute disgrace and the nadir for a politics/news department that has already plumbed hitherto unseen depths in recent years. Somebody just waking up from a decade long coma and tuning in, would have quite genuinely and seriously got the impression some outfit called "Reform" had just won the GE and Nigel Farage was the UK's new Prime Minister. It goes without saying either that Kuensservativeberg was an appalling choice to front it. Both obviously biased and completely lacking gravitas. OK, rant over

Thangam Debonnaire was on the local news this evening announcing that she won’t stand for Parliament again.

Yes another one, inevitably there will be new peerages created by the PM and most will be Labour. No doubt soon the member for Beckenham & Penge will be able to call himself The Hon. Liam Conlon.

Not a good election for pro (or ex-pro) musicians in the Commons. Debbonaire was a cellist in a previous life. Jane Stevenson (Con, Wolverhampton NE) was a soprano, I hope she's kept up her singing practice.

Reading today's Times article about SG it's easier to conclude that many at no.10 would rather strap her into a ducking stool than elevation to the HoL.

There was a time when that would have been considered a reliable source irrespective of politics, sadly not so much these days though.

Others may know better but it just seems to me like this was a perfect seat for the Greens to gain under the circumstances rather than it being anything wrong with Debbonaire as such

Owen Jones and the like gunning for her. Yh, She seemed to be a generic Labour mp who was willing to tow the party line to keep her place in the frontbench although considering the fact bristol central is probably the most left wing constituency in the country that was clearly the wrong decision. It's interesting to note that a lot of politically engaged people were saying online that she had a decent personal vote and the greens wouldn't win this time round, even some labour supporters were saying this in this forum and i think some people on the left wanted to refute that point, which to be fair it seems they were right

Others may know better but it just seems to me like this was a perfect seat for the Greens to gain under the circumstances rather than it being anything wrong with Debbonaire as such She obviously did something right to get 47,000 votes at one point, though some of that would have been down to the Corbyn surge, but I think the issue for her and Ashworth was just pure complacency - going round all the TV interviews and perhaps being perceived to be seen in front of a camera and not in the constituency, thinking it’s in the bag (locally and nationally!). On top of that, given her quest for a cabinet role, having to toe the party line, so a case of the Starmer Labour Party moving away from the constituency? I’m sure this is a very well informed electorate and as we have seen not the sort that blindly votes for any Labour candidate. I wonder if someone like say Zarah Sultana was the Labour candidate she may have hung on here - I can imagine her ‘student union’ style might play well here.
