By would happily stand at a winnable by-election. Having been adamant that the Rochdale by-election would be his last contest which he later changed to Rochdale being his final constituency.

I could (still) imagine him popping up in Birmingham Yardley or Ladywood, given Birmingham appears to be the only major conurbation with some fertile territory he hasn’t been to, having carpetbagged his way to London, West Yorkshire and GM.
I know some will be keen to point out he stood in West Bromwich in 2019 but wasn’t his campaign effectively a non-starter when Tom Watson was standing down anyway, in other words did he bother campaigning at all? It obviously wasn’t a serious campaign whereas Rochdale was and some serious effort in Birmingham could take him or his party over the line. I’m sure he will lend his support in Ilford as well for a potential high profile scalp next time.

I know some will be keen to point out he stood in West Bromwich in 2019 but wasn’t his campaign effectively a non-starter when Tom Watson was standing down anyway, in other words did he bother campaigning at all? He returned election expenses of £8,749.51 but unusually half of that (£4,361.19) was in the 'Accommodation and administration' class. £2,135.54 was on 'Advertising' and only £1,640 was the 'Unsolicited material to electors' which is where leaflet printing is returned. So there was a campaign, but not a big participatory one.
