As predicted by me earlier this week: It's an extreme way to treat someone who is a Cambridge educated, middle class woman, who was on a BBC TV programme every week for ten years. If Lab do dispense with her I predict a black woman Cllr Antoinette Bramble will replace her. She appears to never uttered any strong or definitive views on anything fundamental (e.g race, economics, foreign affairs) but she's no doubt a good manager. She will not give Lab any bother & will dutifully follow the party line.

Will she do a Corbyn and stand as an Independent ? I don't think she will, which will ensure that tonnes of Hackney activists will cross over to Islington and help Corbyn.

Unlike Corbyn, she would lose (although she would get a non-neglible vote)

She might do more damage to Starmer by making herself available to Broadcasters right up to polling day. I am sure they will be interested in what she has to say.

Putting clear water between her and the Labour leadership will do the latter more favours than damage with the kind of voters they need to gain. Of course cogload wouldn't approve of broadcaster giving her any time as she's nothing to do with the election now.

So she's been subject to an internal disciplinary enquiry which has now concluded. She complied with its recommendations. She has had the Labour whip restored. On what basis can she be excluded as a candidate?

I look forward to her standing on a podium in Dover giving free rein to all manner of opinions with a pliant press pack and it being covered live on national television. 👍

She's considered a good enough MP to take the Labour whip though.

What's the evidence she is a ineffective constituency MP? I just heard a Jewish man on LBC saying Aabbott moved "heaven on earth" to secure funding for a girls school in Stamford Hill.

She's v close to the hated Corbyn, they were once an item and have had parallel political careers, that's why they're getting rid of, inter alia. But she'll be elevated to the Lords as a life peer along with Harriet. She was probably dropped hints she would be denied this if she stood as an Independent. And sothey'll join Keir's best friend Ayesha Hazarika. Whilst I'm on this I think Starmer will waste no time in handing Bercow a peerage.
