I was trying to find a term that would encompass both the cantons and half-cantons. Perhaps I should've gone for 'jurisdictions' instead? Administrative Units? It's probably best if you don't talk to Swiss people and avoid any contact. |

Things were more fun when it was made up of 20 constituent parts and six consitutent half-parts. I was trying to find a term that would encompass both the cantons and half-cantons. Perhaps I should've gone for 'jurisdictions' instead? The Swiss themselves use in German mainly "Stände" (=tiers), in French "états". |
