Labour MPs who visited last week end are Dave Anderson (Blaydon), Jenny Chapman (Darlington), Phil Wilson (Sedgefield) and Nick Smith (Blaenau Gwent). 3 Cabinet Ministers are expected to come (1 this week, 2 next week). Farage will visit next week. Adam Afriyie (Top Tory of the Future according to the Shields Gazette) joined the Tory lady on Monday. Shields Gazette says the Tories are basically targetting Harton, Westoe and Horsley Hill wards (I guess they are the more affluent wards). Independent Socialist candidate is this man www.shieldsgazette.com/news/local-news/whistleblower-in-running-for-miliband-seat-1-5608354Postal votes have started to be delivered in the post boxes yesterday and they should all arrive by Friday.

Margaret Farage joins South Sheilds campaign trail /photo/ Farage will be there tomorrow. David Miliband came back on Sunday. Yvette had been there on Thursday and Balls will visit today. UKIP have got David Potts as a councillor in South Tyneside. He comes across as a complete nutter, but that didn't stop Winston McKenzie in Croydon North. It would depend what Farage thinks, obviously. Potts sadly died during the weekend www.shieldsgazette.com/news/local-news/tributes-after-coun-potts-loses-battle-for-life-1-5624412

Harriet is exepected in South Shields today. Meanwhile - Labour go in full attack of UKIP - The Shield Gazette comes with an insightful article: "Ed Balls backs Emma’s bid to be MP". "A Catholic has been elected Pope" was probably their headline when new Pope was announced. - Ind Darwood www.shieldsgazette.com/news/local-news/21st-century-joseph-adds-splash-of-colour-1-5630353- Galloway and Martin Bell back Khan - The Independent Socialist candidate wants the Monster Raving Loony Party to change their names as loony is derogatory to those battling issues of mental health. I predicted a 7,000 Lab maj (Lab in mid 50s, UKIP between 20 and 30 on a 37% turnout) on Election Game.....should I feel concerned for my prediction that Labour felt necessary going out with a full attack leaflet on UKIP 2 days before polling day when 2/3 of votes have probably already been cast by post? Or is it just normal precautions? (uhm, I think I have been too low with turnout anyway)

Interesting tweet from Michael Crick:
"UKIP candidate in South Shields, Richard Elvin, freezes for about 10 seconds at public meeting, forgets what he was going to say"

Hadn't he revised what UKIP stands for this week?

Looks like the expectation management game has already started: "UKIP is confident it will inflict a "bloody nose" on the Labour party in Thursday's South Shields byelection.
Amid growing fears among senior Labour figures that Ukip could achieve its strongest ever byelection showing in South Shields – and possibly even capture the seat – Ukip sources said they are winning support from the "bloody infantry" hit by Britain's main parties.
One Ukip source said: "We expect at the very least to give Labour a bloody nose in South Shields while giving the Conservatives a bloody nose in the rural leafy shires of England.""www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2013/may/01/ukip-bloody-nose-labour-byelection

When you see errors like this...
...you have to wonder how much effort was put into the piece in general.

When you see errors like this... ...you have to wonder how much effort was put into the piece in general. Well they were almost right! This morning, Simon Hughes was being grilled on Today about why the Lib Dems did not have a full slate of candidates for this months's local elections in Liverpool! Dreadful, I discovered later that they had no candidates in Manchester, Leeds or London!

Good grief. What did he reply to them? I trust he put them straight and exposed them for the idiots they are?
