Lib Dem - 919 Conservative - 620 Labour - 559 Green - 104 Independent - 44 No More Refugees - 1 I'm not surprised - candidates who do not want to be elected really ought not to stand at all if the seat is even remotely winnable. I think voters would be justifiably annoyed. Well maybe, but accidents will happen from time to time. This was one of those times.

I was unable to gain access to only this site for much of the day, yet I see people have posted throughout the day. Have others had the same problem as me? Does it depend on what system you are using? Or was the site coming and going during the day and I was unfortunate when trying to log on?

I have had no other problems apart from a short time when Andrew Teale's LEAP site was unavailable. I was getting an "angry bear" page from mid / late morning until around 6.00 pm.

Which suggests a server problem at the proboards end that only affected some users.

One vote?! What was the point of that. Granted the party is nutty, but that is something else.
How long until we see 'I'm sorry....zero votes' in these local by-elections?

There have been a few instances of zero votes in the past, though it is suspected that at least some of them were counting errors.

Nothing obvious showing up on the LEAP server logs for yesterday, so whatever the problem you were having was it wasn't there.

Interesting set of results this week - Inner London Remainia swinging away from Labour, commuterbelt wards swinging towards Labour.
The West Ewell result actually isn’t that surprising to me, it’s not posh Ewell Village. This is in the western half of the district which is more lower middle class/upper working class. There might be some demographic factors helping a little bit, maybe young professional couples in their 30s are selling their one bedroom flats in Inner London and moving out to suburbia (priced out of Kingston and Wimbledon) in order to start families but sticking with their left leaning politics. Next election could be a lot more interesting here than in recent years, I predict the Residents will still on hold the council for certain, however there are new ward boundaries here and there are perhaps three other wards here for Labour to target - Ruxley, Town and perhaps the new Horton ward.

Inner London Remainia, as you put it, swung away from Labour, but I'm sure that the particularly unpropitious reasons for those by-elections had a lot to do with it. Will we see such a phenomenon in Tooting Broadway, where the by-election was unavoidable because of the death of the councillor? I'm not expecting it.

Tooting Broadway will be an easy Labour Hold for sure. There might be slight swing to the Greens (who may take second place) but nothing to even remotely threaten Labours strong position in that ward.

yes that's my presumption too. It was as Tooting for a time Labour's safest ward in Wandsworth, but Furzedown seems to be now. The new Falconbrook ward also very safe
