A failure to smash the cistern. Won't be feeling too flushed with this result.

Given the number of votes involved, this performance was worse. In fact the percentage was so bad it triggered a bug in the LEAP code which I wasn't previously aware of.

No, he was elected at stage 3. A redundant and ludicrous "stage 4", prohibited in the regulations, was carried out. I am conducting a one-person campaign, the least important which I have ever fought, to stop Scottish councils doing it!

In fact the Conservatives have had a far better night than many expected. I am off to bed and will catch up on the twittering-gibbering fest from Salop tomorrow.

Poor Bridgend expect the release of the result will be at 9 am. Cannot see the point of doing a count and not releasing the figures

Conservatives hold Tilehurst South & Holybrook. Numbers to come. Conservatives: 548 (42.35%) Labour: 387 (29.91%) Lib Dems: 359 (27.74%) It's roughly evenly split between richer areas in the southern end of Tilehurst and the council estates/lower end private housing in Holybrook. The result split might make better sense in that context, most of Holybrook is basically an extension of Southcote in Reading Borough, the border runs through the SW part of the estate.

I am in the process of updating my post on turnouts that can be found under the 09 December 2021 by-elections. The turnout in 2019 for Lichfield: Armitage & Handsacre was all of 24.0%.

I really haven't been around for a few days or I might have commented on Ashford Highfield. It might have been helpful to some of you had I told you the Greens were definitely going to win it. It really pains me as this used to be the most reliably Lib Dem ward (or before it was even a ward in its own right, electoral district) in the whole of the borough- so it is difficult to see a place I personally have canvassed many many times when I was in need of some good responses not even have a candidate. The Greens have completely taken it over and of course already were in control of the county division. Had I been a voter in Highfield ( and I used to live a few yards over the border)I would certainly have been voting Green yesterday because no other viable option was available.
