Electronical identity-card:   This turned into a match on data-protection of private companies. As a consequence the more liberal ("libertarian") FDP- and antiEstablishment SVP-voters might finally come back to their parties' paroles. But it will quite certainly fail. |

24/26 (half)cantons are counted and the BurqaBan is approved by 52.7% (with Zurich and Vaud it will fall to ~52% GfS.Bern projects). The TradeTreaty with Indonesia by 52.3%, finally ~51%. The third one - electroncal IdentityCards made by private companies - is rejected by 63.6% (~64%).

The BurqaBan was opposed by Graubünden, Bern and AppenzellAußerrhoden (tourism; although Valais/Wallis and other touristy areas were against) and approved quite strongly by the French (as some OpinionPolls had predicted).
The Indonesia-one was classically left-right.

InSide canton Bern it weren't the tourism-areas in UpperB. (not the French in the Bernian Jura), but the city and Biel, which opposed the BurqaBan.
The real OutCome of this referendum won't be so much few dozens of burqas less, but that the courts will ban in the name of equality("anti-discrimination") those of nuns.

Moutier district has voted to leave Canton Berne and join Canton Jura. The district of Moutier was abolished ~1 decade ago. But yes, the town&municipality of M. did so - and rather clear with nearly 55%. Probably too much for legel objections of canton Bern concerning "vote-tourism". |

Quite a good day for the left: - In Glarus they reentered the government after some time, giving them 2 ministers in Inner-CH. - In Vaud they succeeded in the RunOffs of the LocalElections. - In Geneva scandal-ridden Maud (ex-PLR/FDP) failed to be his own successor: With PDC/CVP and UDC/SVP running too the Greeny woman won. As a consequence GE will have its only second left majority in government so far. What means, that all 4 purely French cantons - GE, VD, NE, JU - will be governed by the left. - In Valais/Wallis they won insofar, as PDC/CVP has lost its majority of ministers - for the first time "forever" (= since elections are held). But this enabled UDC/SVP to regain the minister lost last time. As written at round 1, it had a lot to do with german UpperV. (30% of pop., decreasing tendency) being eager to defend its 2 out of 5 ministers. Just look at these crazy numbers:  |
