Unsurprisingly the 2 referenda environmentalists-vs.-farmers will be rejected, the 2 on terror sive Corona approved. The CO²-one is in doubt.

The first ProJection sees a ReJection of the CO²-proposal with 49%:51%.

The CO²-failure is more and more likely - quite a success for the fringes (SVP&allies opposed it as well as the very small parties of the FarLeft).

Ad CO2: Presently it's 52.9% NO, but 4 cantons are missing: Zurich, Bern, Sankt Gallen, Basel-Landschaft. The cities there could shift it, but it's very unlikely.
Of the 22 (half)cantons counted only Basel-Stadt agreed (with high 2/3) and the French cantons Geneva, Vaud and NeuChatel (rather narrowly).

Basel-Stadt must be hugely responsible for a large slice of Switzerland's CO2 emissions. Interesting Romand split- Fribourg, Jura, and Valais not following suit. I do hope Ticino lived up to its reputation and voted in a violently different way to Romandy on every matter.

Yes, the Romand-split is different to other votes - but not surprising, given the lack of cities in FR (or at least JU&VS), isn't it? The real surprise for me was ZurichCity. On Covid19-measures TI opted very much like the etatistic French (probably shaked through by the disaster south of the border). On CO²-reduction the contrary happened (see the link above with the maps).

I know quite a bit of Switzerland and like most of it but would never have wished to live there since WW2. The areas I know best are Basel, Luzern and the Ticino. For all that Ticiono is Italian, I found it to have the worst service, poorest service areas (outside of Belgium!), poorest hotels and restaurants of anywhere else I have been to in Switzerland.

I've only done Lugano and surroundings, but enjoyed it a lot. That said, the best Swiss canton in my view is Graubünden - good food, good beer, spectacular scenery, and the exotic presence of Rumantsch. Zurich's "Gold Coast" is a favourite too. Fribourg, Lausanne, Nyon, also very good. I'm not a fan of Geneva though.

They had been admirably brave&solid soldiers&craftsmen, when part of the big Reich; but when leaving the grand order of feudalism, they became narrow-minded MountainFarmers&SmallCity-PepperSacks - in short: despicable dwarfs. (WAGNER - after all in CH-exile - had them probably in mind, when composing "RheinGold"...) I must admit, that i prefer the Baroque pomp&pathos of my country (which is sometimes nicknamed "the poor part of the Alpes"...)

Like Portugal (LocalElections); Germany, Berlin, Mecklenburg-V., LowerSaxony (Local RunOffs), Gießen; UpperAustria, Graz CH will head to the polls on September 26th (will be brutally busy...) - albeit only for the municipalities of Fribourg - and 2 referenda: - "Marriage for all": i.e. also for HomoSexuals (opposed only by SVP & EDU) - "99%": i.e. more taxes on the richest 1% (supported by GPS&SPS [but not by the leftlib.-europhile "reformists" within SPS]) BfsBern conducted a first OpinionPoll (n=1.200, telephonically): cockpit.gfsbern.ch/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/213005_srg_trend_26.09.2021_vollerversion.pdfThe first one will surely be agreed, the second one quite certainly not (the main proponents - the YoungSocialists/JuSos - made it more for agitation&provocation and are hoping to receive a comparatively good result).

For a bit of clarity, the tax referendum is (I'm taking this from SRF) aimed at raising tax on dividends and capital gains, with the idea that this is used to reduce income taxes (bet your life that won't happen) or spend it. On a vaguely related note here's a map of income inequality by municipality. Blue is rich but reasonably equal, red is poorer but unequal, purple is rich and unequal, and closer to white is poorer but equal. www.srf.ch/news/schweiz/interaktive-karte-so-ungleich-ist-das-einkommen-in-der-schweiz-verteilt

The full text of that initiative translated:
The FederalConstitution gets altered in this way: Art. 127a Taxation of capital income and labor income: 1 CapitalIncome-components above an amount stipulated by law are in the scope of 150 percent taxable. 2 The additional income resulting from the taxation of the CapitalIncome according to paragraph 1 (150% instead of 100%), is for the reduction of the taxation of people with low or medium earnings or to use for transfer payments for the benefit of social welfare." 3 [NonConstitutional, Georg Ebner] Laws regulate the details.
