So sorry if already been addressed, but why exactly is the CLP here so against Pamela Nash? She was an MP for 5 years but nearly got deselected in 2015 and wasn't selected this time. Was she seen as a bad MP?

Yes it was a slightly better result for Labour but wasn't that just tactical votes from Conservatives rather than some old Labour voters returning home? It may well be some people who voted Tory in the last few elections, but were Labour before their big collapse?

Was she seen as a bad MP? She was widely regarded as a fly-by-night character who was there only for the freebies. This Scotsman article, written at the time she was narrowly reselected in 2013, recounts some of the complaints (and there were loads) made against her: www.scotsman.com/news/politics/how-mp-pamela-nash-escaped-labour-selection-battle-1559685

Of course her original selection was not without controversy.

Someone has hastily set up a Wikipedia page for the newly-elected MP. It's unusual for someone to be elected to Westminster who didn't previously have a page. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anum_Qaisar-JavedTaiwo Owatemi's page was created just after midnight on 13th December 2019, whilst the count was still in progress. So I doubt it's that unusual.

Signs of unionist tactical voting again for sure, but it does seem the overall SNP vote share is going to need to drop a bit for it to translate to a decent number of seat losses like in 2017

Am I the only one who totally forgot this was happening? Why wasn't it held last week? Because, due to an embarrassing mistake by the SNP, they mixed up calling it, at the same time as their Westminster leader lauding how they had saved money by calling it to coincide with the Holyrood elections whilst claiming the Tories would cost taxpayers ten ofthousands of pounds by calling a byelection for Douglas Ross's seat later (even though he has no plans to quit Westminster). Has he actually apologised? Haha did he actually do that? What an absolute tool.

Sounds like the returning officer would have avoided Holyrood polling day whatever they had done.

Just noticed that the Liberal Democrat vote of 220 recorded in this by-election is the lowest ever for a Liberal/Liberal Democrat candidate, and 1% is the second lowest percentage for a Liberal/Liberal Democrat candidate in a parliamentary by-election since universal suffrage began.

Not an area with any historical strength for them, coupled with the focus on tactical voting in Scottish seats and usual by-election turnouts it’s not hugely surprising

Is that lowest ever in a by-election, or lowest ever in any parliamentary election?

I presume the "lowest" in this context is still Rhondda at the 2017 GE?

I presume the "lowest" in this context is still Rhondda at the 2017 GE? Lowest vote share, yes, at 0.8%, and with just 277 votes.
