for once boogs is right. The Labour campaign in the constituency was pathetic & frankly got what it deserved. And it took nearly a decade to recover, and even then only very temporarily.

At one point there was criticism of Timpson for driving a Bentley. Fancy driving a car made in the town!

There were the absurd doctored top hat photos not to mention the llamas (or were they alpacas?) he was said to own. I disagreed with Edward Timpson on many, many issues but (in my personal opinion) he is the most capable MP Crewe has had in my time here (55 years).

It's Casino Royale not Casino Royal. 2. The first film that was made in which Bond had to drive was Goldfinger. The producers approached Bentley, who weren't interested, but Aston Martin were, so they got the gig. As a result, Aston Martin became _the_ Bond car, although in later years BMW and others were featured because they paid to be in the films. So when they got around to making CR, there was no question of having a Bentley because as far as the films were concerned , Bentley had never been associated with Bond. So, not airbrushed out: never included because Bentley didn't want to be.

In the books, though, he does drive a Bentley (and continues to drive a Bentley Mulsanne in the later John Gardner books). The Mulsanne of that era is probably what most people have in mind when they think of a Bentley, whereas the 2010 relaunch is far chunkier.

I don't know for definite, but why would they? Bentley are not part of the film canon, the vintage Bentley from the book would have been a bit silly, and a modern Bentley probably just as much so.

Is there going to be a by election here? I ask as the discussion quite clearly has nothing to do with the constituency of Leicester East or the indiscretions of its MP.
Seeing as Claudia Webbe does not appear to be going anywhere, this thread is now locked and can be re-opened if any new developments occur.
