Being a former resident of Sheffield Central (I had a year on Summer Street), my view is that Izzard would not be a good fit for the constituency.
This is phrasing it politely.

Blair is an interesting case because on the one hand he benefited from the advocacy skills that even a mediocre barrister needs to have and the definite (related) sense that he could go far, while also being the comparatively local backlash choice against a pretty undeniably parachuted 'favourite' from the Midlands.

Eddie Izzard fancies being the next MP for Sheffield Central. Spent the last three months campaigning in Sheffield for the local elections. I do actually think Central is the kind of place Eddie was would suit I lived in that constituency for a full year and can confirm that those constituents from the Dog and Partridge, The Red Deer and the two Whetherspoons are just gagging for a fat aging Metropolitan luvvie bloke, in heavy makeup, a dyed perm, and a shocking pink outfit! He is their heart's desire and just what they have always wanted to represent who they are. He is their dream of a ticket. He is so 'them'! Especially the Asians. I'm sure I've seen the very stereotype you describe in the dog and partridge in days gone by

I thought Huckfield wanted Wigan rather than Sedgefield? He ended up a very anti-EU MEP

Huckfield is something to do with co-ops in Sheffield which strikes me as a bit odd as he lives in Scotland.

Would he be a good fit for ANY constituency? He's possibly a little too conservative for Berlin-Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg – Prenzlauer Berg Ost.

He ended up a very anti-EU MEP you are correct, he went for Wigan but lost out to Roger Stott who had represented Westhoughton in the previous parliament.

Would he be a good fit for ANY constituency? Izzard v Corbyn in Islington North would be interesting You’d probably expect Corbyn to beat him as an independent candidate, surely? Whatever his other shortcomings, JC has a reputation for being a diligent MP, I gather.
