The greenbelt issue in Coventry and surrounding areas is way less NIMBY than similar campaigns in other places because the justification for building on the greenbelt is based on extremely dodgy population projections. Basically the figures were calculated based on years where there was a large growth in student numbers, and the projection assume that the students will all be staying long-term, when in reality only a small minority do. Even Labour, who are the ones actually pushing building on the greenbelt, have admitted that the figures are bunk. Yes, there may be a small element of NIMBYISM there, since Wainbody is one of the wards where the greenbelt houses will be built, but it certainly isn't the core of the objection.
You'd be right about opposing the expansion of the University being NIMBY, though.
Half the university isn't even in Coventry, with the boundary running stright through the middle of the campus. Significantly less than half is over the border. Most of the departments and halls of residence are on the Coventry side of the border.

"Issues with Warwick University expansion" does not necessarily imply opposition.. But probably you know better than I do what the Lib Dem candidate is referring to..

The Independent standing in Penrith South used to be a Conservative Councillor in Mid Sussex.

The only damaging thing about that, electorally in Penrith, is the 'Sussex' bit.

The hotel I was staying on the Costa Brava last week was full of Hull residents who had gone there to see some kind of rugby match at Perpignan (I never discovered what the result was). I suppose it could have been worse, and the hotel had been full of people from Coventry..

(KR - Kingston Rovers are the team from the East of Hull, nicknamed the Robins).

Ooh, we are all so quick to be helpful! The modern information age, eh?
Thirty years ago we'd have been struggling to find details, now you get the same news from three different agencies all at the same time.
However these services have to be paid for by annoying adverts, so....

How about Finso's fatalistic fibrillators? We don't talk about those. Legal action is ongoing.

I have been to Hull a couple of times (but I make a point of not getting involved in speculation of the 'how well are we doing' kind, just deliver the leaflets - so don't ask). What I can say is that the bits I were delivering were pretty grim, and this is from someone who works in Little Horton remember. Also there appears to be no part of the ward that doesn't smell of weed.
