Um, from one point of view yes but you can't help feeling he's just trying to score an ideological point. If he provides replacement doctors to all those places which never had a resident doctor before, that'll be great but I'm not holding my breath. Oh, he won't. But Bolsonaro's myriad flaws should not be allowed to detract that the Cuban state effectively enforces corvee labour on its citizens to earn hard cash.

I wonder how many would go voluntarily? *genuine musing*

I wonder how many would go voluntarily? *genuine musing* Probably a fair few, I'd imagine. Especially if they could keep most of their cash and take their families.

Brazilian barbers shop in Birmingham yesterday: all staff heavily in favour of both UK Labour and Bolsonaro. No, I don't understand either.

Their interests here and back home are not the same, so it isn't surprising that their political preferences wouldn't be either. Most working class Irish immigrant households in the postwar period supported Labour here and Fianna Fail back home, for instance, and there are Labour councillors and recent parliamentary candidates who support the BJP.

All fair & interesting points.

Yes, but the difference between Bolsonaro and Corbyn is even more marked than usual in these cases (unless you are a particularly dismal "horseshoe" theorist, at least)
