Try this. The 'Total' is the sum of the votes I heard when each province was announced, the 'Total as announced' is the one given by the ZEC in its national result. Candidate | Party | Harare | Masvingo | Mashonaland East | Matabeleland South | Bulawayo | Matabeleland North | Mashonaland Central | Midlands | Manicaland | Mashonaland West | TOTAL | % | TOTAL AS ANNOUNCED | Mnangagwa, Emmerson Dambudzo | Zimbabwe Africa National Union – Patriotic Front | 204,710 | 319,073 | 334,617 | 107,008 | 60,168 | 111,452 | 366,785 | 350,754 | 292,938 | 312,958 | 2,460,463 | 51.48 | 2,460,463 | 51.52 | Chamisa, Nelson | MDC Alliance | 548,889 | 171,196 | 189,024 | 90,292 | 144,107 | 137,611 | 97,097 | 255,059 | 296,429 | 217,722 | 2,147,426 | 44.93 | 2,147,436 | 44.97 | Khupe, Thokozani | Movement for Democratic Change – T | 3,019 | 3,017 | 2,296 | 4,698 | 5,753 | 12,776 | 1,557 | 4,664 | 4,793 | 3,000 | 45,573 | 0.95 | 45,573 | 0.95 | Busha, Joseph Makamba | FreeZim Congress | 1,007 | 2,508 | 1,681 | 1,216 | 497 | 1,401 | 1,480 | 2,774 | 2,759 | 2,253 | 17,576 | 0.37 | 17,556 | 0.37 | Moyo, Nkosana Donald | Alliance for the People’s Agenda | 1,577 | 1,708 | 1,166 | 1,060 | 1,350 | 1,419 | 907 | 1,988 | 2,508 | 1,540 | 15,223 | 0.32 | 15,223 | 0.32 | Chikanga, Everisto Washington | Rebuild Zimbabwe | 834 | 2,381 | 949 | 1,335 | 364 | 1,342 | 872 | 1,794 | 1,835 | 1,435 | 13,141 | 0.27 | 13,141 | 0.28 | Mujuru, Joice Teurai Ropa | People's Rainbow Coalition | 1,688 | 979 | 972 | 808 | 1,050 | 1,170 | 2,616 | 1,163 | 1,279 | 1,152 | 12,877 | 0.27 | 12,878 | 0.27 | Hlabangani, Kwanele | Republicans Party of Zimbabwe | 345 | 1,301 | 734 | 1,085 | 442 | 975 | 861 | 1,404 | 1,223 | 1,080 | 9,450 | 0.20 | 9,449 | 0.20 | Kasiyamhuru, Blessing | Zimbabwe Partnership for Prosperity | 652 | 810 | 590 | 480 | 320 | 765 | 383 | 1,077 | 1,027 | 918 | 7,022 | 0.15 | 7,022 | 0.15 | Mugadza, William Tawonezvi | Bethel Christian Party | 572 | 627 | 451 | 509 | 231 | 726 | 421 | 774 | 838 | 660 | 5,809 | 0.12 | 5,890 | 0.12 | Hove, Mhambi Divine | National Alliance of Patriotic and Democratic Republicans | 92 | 775 | 302 | 404 | 57 | 462 | 1,047 | 633 | 627 | 581 | 4,980 | 0.10 | 4,980 | 0.10 | Wilson, Harry Peter | Democratic Opposition Party | 170 | 857 | 366 | 461 | 129 | 570 | 447 | 667 | 659 | 572 | 4,898 | 0.10 | 4,898 | 0.10 | Munyanduri, Tendai Peter | New Patriotic Front | 219 | 798 | 330 | 429 | 133 | 412 | 413 | 658 | 594 | 544 | 4,530 | 0.09 | 4,529 | 0.09 | Mutinhiri, Ambrose | National Patriotic Front | 208 | 600 | 308 | 456 | 91 | 502 | 373 | 581 | 533 | 455 | 4,107 | 0.09 | 4,107 | 0.09 | Shumba, Daniel | United Democratic Alliance | 222 | 534 | 274 | 411 | 118 | 558 | 254 | 535 | 575 | 426 | 3,907 | 0.08 | 3,907 | 0.08 | Gava, Mapfumo Peter | United Democratic Front | 148 | 352 | 204 | 304 | 78 | 404 | 232 | 417 | 391 | 336 | 2,866 | 0.06 | 2,867 | 0.06 | Mteki, Bryan Taurai | Independent | 158 | 411 | 177 | 255 | 68 | 229 | 247 | 401 | 477 | 324 | 2,747 | 0.06 | 2,747 | 0.06 | Madhuku, Lovemore | National Constitutional Assembly | 303 | 335 | 218 | 249 | 81 | 261 | 150 | 335 | 548 | 259 | 2,739 | 0.06 | 2,738 | 0.06 | Manyika, Noah Ngoni | Build Zimbabwe Alliance | 611 | 289 | 186 | 222 | 104 | 227 | 139 | 400 | 237 | 263 | 2,678 | 0.06 | 2,678 | 0.06 | Mangoma, Elton Steers | Coalition of Democrats | 213 | 281 | 204 | 215 | 60 | 264 | 187 | 311 | 4,356 | 267 | 6,358 | 0.13 | 2,437 | 0.05 | Dzapasi, Melbah | #1980 Freedom Movement Zimbabwe | 147 | 217 | 194 | 170 | 94 | 221 | 151 | 262 | 241 | 202 | 1,899 | 0.04 | 1,899 | 0.04 | Mariyacha, Violet | United Democracy Movement | 89 | 158 | 105 | 209 | 65 | 267 | 110 | 222 | 247 | 201 | 1,673 | 0.04 | 1,673 | 0.04 | Chiguvare, Tonderai Johannes Timothy | People’s Progressive Party | 97 | 218 | 112 | 158 | 45 | 148 | 120 | 217 | 219 | 215 | 1,549 | 0.03 | 1,549 | 0.03 | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | TOTAL | 765,970 | 509,425 | 535,460 | 212,434 | 215,405 | 274,162 | 476,849 | 627,090 | 615,333 | 547,363 | 4,779,491 | | 4,775,640 | |

Interesting to see these figures, and to see that the discrepancy between the two totals is so small that there is very little by way of decisive difference there. The difference between the MDC performance in its areas of strength and its apparent area of weakness is such that we could be getting a genuine misconception about how the country as a whole feels- looking at Zimbabwe purely from the point of view of Harare is maybe as misleading as looking at the UK purely from the point of view of London.
However, may it be that it is so much easier to bring traditional pressures to bear,to organise vote-rigging,to stuff ballot boxes, out in the remoter provinces than it is in the greater public gaze in places like Harare and Bulawayo ?

The way to have inspired confidence in the result would have been for each individual polling station to publish its results (assuming that's where the votes were counted) and allowing anyone and everyone to add up the totals for themselves. It inevitably looks a bit suspicious if a central authority claims a monopoly on tallying the votes, especially when taking a number of days to do so. citizen.co.za/news/news-africa/1991352/us-calls-for-release-of-all-zimbabwes-poll-data/

David-I am currently having difficulties with the ZEC website. Could you please confirm, from where you got those figures?
Many thanks.

To be fair, it was probably the most peaceful Zimbabwe election in generations, and one of the most peaceful African elections in recent time - IIRC only 3 people died? Probably less than die in bar-brawls in a typical Harare district on a Friday night...

Picking up on mboy’s comment firstly-there were either 6 or 7 people killed depending on which deaths are included. Such a tragedy that these should have occurred after a peaceful Election Day.
There is an excellent article in this week’s House magazine written by Baroness Jay about our experiences in Zim during the election and beyond. (the one error is in the spelling of my surname! LOL) I hope one of the IT experts on here can provide a link to the article before I can. (If no-one does I will try to post it during the recess)
I hope and pray for progress in Zimbabwe. A highly literate country with such potential and 90% unemployment. The reshuffle this week indicates potential progress.

A Conservative hoping&praying for "progress"... (But i am aware, that Conservatives are nowadays far too often pro technology and modernization, whereas left Greens are against.)

(But i am aware, that Conservatives are nowadays far too often pro technology and modernization, whereas left Greens are against.) Um, what?! Most Greens are doubtlessly hyper-modern, want to replace technics with more technics (cf. the high number of green LaborRats), try to reduce mankind to external structures; but few of them intend a real metanoia.
