"A man has reportedly been shot dead by the army in Zimbabwe as people protested against election results giving the ruling Zanu-PF party a big parliamentary majority. A photographer from the AFP news agency said the man died at the scene in Harare after being shot in the stomach. Soldiers arrived after police got into running battles with protesters, who threw stones and burned tyres." news.sky.com/story/zimbabwes-ruling-party-zanu-pf-wins-parliamentary-election-11455999Sounds like full scale chaos now.

Not rop surprising given the split opposition (although the majority is questionable), but the untied presidential opposition ans the percentage fo ZANU-PF in the comstituencies does npt point to a victory for ED in the first round of he Presidential election. This is where ZEC is in a cleft stick.

Have been in the most remote parts of Matabeleland North for the period of election and returned yesterday. We are staying a few blocs from yesterday's tragedy.
Chamisa has just held a press conference in our hotel. He has a very light touch. Surprisingly relaxed given all the pressures of the last few days. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has said that it will (finally) publish the presidential results at 22.00 (21.00 UK time).

I'm guessing Matabeleland is safe for Chamisa...

That means the result could be close perhaps. Maybe something is needed to fabricate a crime?

Nine out of ten provinces have results, with Mashonaland West outstanding (likely to go Mnangagwa in a big way). With 9/10 the results are
Mnangagwa (ZANU-PF) 2,147,505 Chamisa (MDC Alliance) 1,929,704 Others 139,596
So Mnangagwa on 50.93%

Come to think of it, one thing about Mashonaland West - it includes Zvimba which is Cde R.G. Mugabe's homeland. Has a total of 685,000 voters.

Jonathan Moyo has done a compilation of the V11 forms in Mash West which gives:
Mnangagwa 314,148 Chamisa 216,441

More than an hour after the ZEC platform party adjourned for a very precise "16 minutes", and an MDC-Alliance spokesman has gone on stage and said they are rejecting the results as declared so far because the provisions of the Electoral Act weren't complied with.
(A bit difficult to hear as the press appeared to be heckling him while he was speaking)

Anybody who spent any time attempting to analyse this election were wasting their time. No result other than this was ever going to be permitted. The military did not remove Mugabe only to allow their man to lose an election.

The military did not remove Mugabe only to allow their man to lose an election. If this is based on anything more than reasonable supposition, then I hope we will get a full-blooded condemnation from international observers. So far the only comments I have seen have been ambivalent at best.

Yes, all very predictable. It could of course be an at least approximate representation of the actual "will of the people" but nobody can just presume that.

I'm trying to find the results of the presidential election by province, without success so far.

I have them at home, taken down from the live broadcast of the ZEC announcement, although they don't quite tally (the nationwide vote for each candidate is not always the total of what I heard them get in each province).
