An interesting question now is does the EU, UK, Canada, Australia and America engage with Ben Gvir? I can't see how we can. Especially given I'm not sure what Israel can offer us to make such a prospect more palatable. I mean, it's not like Ben gvir is going to have a role in foreign policy.

Looks like RZ finished (2nd place after Likud) ahead of YA among Soldiers and almost certainly among Young people in general.
Note: decent Chance Lapid finished in 6th place among voters under the age of 25….

Meretz is officially done for. Ding dong, the cockroach is dead! Do you really think a supposedly pluralist democracy where all available parties are either right wing, right of centre, or reflect religious or communal minorities is healthy? I think it's an inevitability of religiously defined states.

Meretz is officially done for.Ding dong, the cockroach is dead! Which is a shame. I'm a Zionist and I am sympathetic to Likud, but Israel needs a strong peace party to stop silly suicidal ideas like the wholescale annexation of Judea and Samaria. I would also be interested to know whether the incident in Netanya on polling day affected the Meretz vote. Even a slight dip in response will have been catastrophic from their perspective and that whole thing seems really sus to me.

Indeed, does he wish to engage or have any preferred connection with the West in any case?

The foolishness of Balad's decision to run alone, along with Labour/Meretz not doing a deal, when all the other parties in the pro-Netanyahu camp had done so, is the background to this result. 49.5% in this bloc rewarded with fewer seats. Whilst I hate many of these deals, in the polarised elections of these times, more adults were needed on the centre-left.

Labour moved significantly to the left under Michaeli, so Meretz is not that unique anymore. 2.The Meretz crowd is extremely anti-religious so I doubt it hurt them.

Well😳. They do both hate judges who do their jobs and try and hold the corrupt to account, so makes sense.

that's true. The only way it can function as a friendship is through Netanyahu's complete indifference to diaspora Jews. He appears not to give a shit about the antisemitic policies and utterances of his pal within Hungary. An old family friend who has just turned 90 is a survivor both of the Holocaust & the Hungarian Uprising. Hungarian is her first language but she doesn't even want to be identified as a Hungarian any more.
