Actually it seems there is a byelection in Newtown ward tomorrow, after the resignation of Rachael Proud (Labour).
Candidates are:
KIRK, David Alan (no description)
RODRIGUES, Miguel Francisco (Conservative Party Candidate)
ROSSITER, Jason Aaron (Liberal Democrat)
SURTEES, Marilyn Margaret (Labour Party)
Ben Houchen is a Conservative, and the byelection in Yarm ward will be on 22 June.

Does anyone know the reason for the by-election in Newtown. Two Labour councillors were elected in May 2015, but Rachael Proud's running mate, Paul Baker, is now shown on the council website as an Independent.

I am very sad to report the death yesterday after a short illness of Cllr Ann Shaw, LD councillor for Chorleywood S & Maple Cross ward and former leader of Three Rivers DC from 1986 - 2016. Ann was first elected to the Rickmansworth UDC in the early 1970s. Sorry to hear that. I never knew her personally but she was obviously a very significant figure in Hertfordshire politics for a long time. My condolences |

I am very sad to report the death yesterday after a short illness of Cllr Ann Shaw, LD councillor for Chorleywood S & Maple Cross ward and former leader of Three Rivers DC from 1986 - 2016. Ann was first elected to the Rickmansworth UDC in the early 1970s. Ann Shaw was a workaholic: her car was to be seen in the Three Rivers District Council office car park at many an odd time, day and night, such was her commitment to the job. It is tragic that after stepping down from the role of council leader that Ann and her husband had so little time to enjoy her 'retirement'. My condolences to her family and her colleagues on the council. |
