That's no distance at all in the countryside. Yeah, I had no idea, having spent almost my entire life in a rural area where I ran campaigns as an agent, ran for election and actually lived. I mean, wtf, how would I even know that. It's almost as though I picked a distance out of the air for no reason at all. A mile is easy to understand for people like Davıd Boothroyd because it puts them close to the borough boundary hence my choice of distance. No one in Stoke Central is a mile from a polling station. Tell me, Al. When was the last time you ran a rural election campaign or ran for election yourself in a rural area? Or ever, in fact, urban or rural area? Or even actually got involved in an election campaign?

Not that it's really that relevant, but I've never stood for public office (and have no intention of doing so) and I have indeed helped out in some election campaigns. Apologies for #triggering you, it was not intended

According to Jon Craig Copeland is still very tight and that it will declare at between 2:00-2:30am... Here's hoping he's actually right. If Copeland declares before Stoke Central, given their relative geography and road links, then Stoke Council should hang their head in shame ! If Sunderland can do three constituencies in under 2 hours at a General Election, then Stoke Central should be able to produce a single Constituency result with less than 25,000 total votes in less than 3 hours...

Pretty pathetic, needless to say.

Are these estimates of declaration times assuming no recounts? How realistic is that in either of these contests?

there has been f all happening at Stoke for ages - if there was going to be a recount surely they would have started it by now

Apparently we're looking at a declaration from Copeland at around 2:30. The broad consensus right now is that the Conservatives are ahead. 2.30 - I've head this before...I also have work in seven hours....by-election and whisky or bed?

One instance where I am triggered!

Nice suggestion relayed from Stoke UKIP activists that whatever the result Paul Nuttal's website will say he is the MP

Poor for both Labour and UKIP.
Underwhelming for us, though it seems (from speaking to those who went to help) we were squeezed effectively by Labour.
Good Tory result

Sod it! Third place again and Labour hold it. As commented on from the start this is just too damn evenly divided in the opposition right parties. It is 2015 rerun in smaller figures.
Well done Labour. Convincingly held.

Then raise the scarlet standard high. Beneath it 's folds we'll live and die. Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer. We'll keep the red flag flying here Wie oft hat nicht zur Weihnachtszeit, Ein Baum von dir mich hoch erfreut! O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum, Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
Nicking the tune from a German Christmas folk song is such a great demonstration of your movement's credentials.
