Prime Minister visiting the Emma Bridgewater factory in Stoke at the moment. Is that a campaign visit? And if so, is it a sign that they think they could be in with a chance? Intriguing.

Stranger things have happened... The rationale is probably that they think there will be a low turnout; Labour is at a low ebb; Paul Nuttall has blown it by showing himself up as a latter day Walter Mitty; the LibDems have put in a decent effort which will take votes away from Labour; meaning that there's a slight possibility the Tories could squeak through on a low share of the vote if they get their core vote out. Apparently some Tories have been tweeting the result of the 1992 General Election in Inverness when Russell Johnstone won for the LibDems with 26% in a four-way split. I suggested a result like this on this very thread (albeit I wouldn't have picked the Tories as beneficiaries)...

I don't see it happening myself, but I don't think they would have sent the PM up there if it was a total no-hope campaign. Apparently they have also been putting out direct mail letters from Theresa May. I think CCHQ want Labour to win to keep Jeremy safe. The gift that keeps on giving if you believe the Grauniad/ICM poll. But of course if circumstances dictated that there was a chance of him not winning, then they could well up the game with some targeted DM. I'm going for a Labour win on the basis of Nutter having shot himself in the foot and thrown it away. Aarron Banks thinks that a lot of the Labour vote is going to the DeadLimbs and that will give them it, despite Nuttal being completely useless and the Agent and campaign director being a pair of clowns My impression is that some of the Labour vote would come to us if they thought that Nuttles couldn't win, but they are very worried about Nuttles winning and will vote reluctantly for Snell. The Conservatives have run a quiet and competent campaign with very good literature and have probably held off any UKIP depredations on their vote. Despite his many problems that have kept us amused, plenty of people will still vote for the big Bootle Meff. I have no idea what the final outcome will be.

You mean Nuttall and UKIP have actually put out a leaflet advertising the claims over privatising the NHS? Amateurs, the lot of them. As most people will think, the only circumstances in which you have to insist you would "NEVER" do something is if there is a good reason why people might believing you would.
And you don't then go and give publicity to it by identifying the people who are making the claim because that just looks like you're responding to their agenda.

No we haven't, you bokterous scallywag Never been out leafleting and realised you need a wee, but no obvious local facility? I have occasionally used unofficial places in extremis. Hasn't everybody? In France people pee everywhere and nobody thinks anything of it.
