Higher Croft (Blackburn) - Lab Hold Labour 435 UKIP 187 Conservative 125 Quite an interesting result in the context of UKIP making push in Labour seats that heavily voted Leave, pitching themselves as the party of the White Working Class. In this seat they push Conservatives into second but fall well short of mounting a serious challenge to Labour. I wonder if that pattern might be repeated on a larger scale.

Blackburn LAB: 58.2% (+12.1) UKIP: 25.0% (-8.3) CON: 16.7% (-3.8)
Britain Elects. Not sure when the % changes are from - presumably 2015 not 2016.

If that is correctly reported, it is one of the worst Labour results I have ever seen ...
... and Andrew Preview described me as a 'veteran' this week!

Looks like the rout of Labour in Scotland will be finally complete next year.

Hold on a minute, the reporter quoted above is claiming 1155 (not 155) votes for Labour......

It doesn't really fit with other byelections in similar type wards in Scotland in recent months. 5% just looks too low even for Labour in their parlous position. But there could have been local factors, I suppose.

That must be a mistake - Lab and Lib Dem the wrong way around? You might be right, Claire Warrender from the Fife Courier has Tweeted these numbers from the count: SNP1501, Lab 1155, Con 752, Libs 580, Greens 74

Yes, 1155 not 155. I know fully well Labour's parlous current condition in Scotland, but people (Britian Elects included) really should have double checked that one In fact, the actual result is only a small Lab to Nat swing since 2012 (though it confirms the recent Scots Tory surge, too)
