What does the voter do with the ballot papers of all the candidates they don't want to vote for? Of all the questions one might ask why that one? Drop on floor/back to the table/in pocket/in bin provided? Who cares other than you? There is a bin in every voting booth to drop them, but, sure a few end on the floor or in the voting booth.

How I wish French circonscriptions (constituencies) were given proper names instead of those god awful numbers! Imagine the uproar if we had Devon 1, Devon 2, Devon 3 et cetera. Except we'd of course have Exe 1, Exe 2, Exe 3 etc. You can imagine that going down well in the rest of the county. Plymothians wouldn't like being associated with the minor provincial town up the road.

If MACRON really does win then the legislatives are going to be what is technically known as a clusterf uck. Is he presenting candidates under his own ticket or will he simply endorse PS or something? He has promised a full slate. I guess the chances of this transpiring depend somewhat on whether he wins.

I would guess that if he did win then there would be something of a realignment in the centreatment left with a fair degree of ship jumping by some, which may have an impact prior to the elections.

Remember that the current PS was a creation by Mitterrand out of the ashes of the old SFIO bringing in elements from the PSU as well as the left wing of the former Christian Democratic Party (MRP) plus a few 'maturing' former ultra leftists and left Radicals and ex-Stalinists. Maybe a realignment along the lines of that in Italy is on the cards?

I wonder where MLP, who touts herself as the scourge of the "international banker class", will find all this extra money to borrow to pay for her spending spree?
Ever more proof that there are almost no economically credible runners in the presidential race, bar a parvenu and...well...Fillon, who is damaged goods.
Hopefully the legislatives will throw up something better.
My prediction is that the Right will narrowly win these. Macron might play a spoiler role but nothing convincing. The FN will yet again find themselves not making much progress, and might lose the dreadful Gilbert Collard.

I'd be more tempted to call that ' Hauts-d'Angleterre'. The Kent and Essex sides of the Thames Estuary could be combined into ' Tamise-Maritime'.

We'd have ended up with ' Deux-Avons' (as if one weren't bad enough!) and ' Côtes-du-Wash' as well.

If we're going to name the Plymouth seats after neighbourhoods, those would be the right ones (though Drake ward is full of students). Since we've been stuck with 'Moor View' and 'Sutton' for the past couple of elections, I'm content with the switch to plain old 'North' and 'South'.

EELV used to be a Mamere-Joly cult but now as mrpastelito said about the others, they are floundering for a personality.
