Is it still legal to stand in multiple constituencies in the regional Assemblies/Parliament? Robert McCartney of UKUP stood in 6 constituencies in the 2007 Assembly losing in all of them, including his seat in North Down.

It's certainly not possible to stand in more than one ward at a local election.

On the same council true. But you can stand for different councils on different days if you are qualified for all of them. I've stood for three different councils on the same day before.

It seems that Labour MPs have until 6.00 p.m. Thursday (tomorrow) to decide if they are re-standing in the GE or not. So we should know then whether there will, in fact, be a by-election here. Ditto Leigh.
