Has a party ever previously won a seat in a council area in which it received no votes? I've seen it happen before. You need a rural council to do it.

Has a party ever previously won a seat in a council area in which it received no votes? The continuing SDP did so at one point in the 90s on West Dorset DC. In what was IIRC then the Owermoigne ward (essentially the bit which separates Weymouth & Portland from Purbeck).

Has a party ever previously won a seat in a council area in which it received no votes? I mean if we're talking *ever* ever, Labour won every seat up for election on Ilkeston Municipal Borough Council in 1960 without getting a single vote due to unopposed elections. I'll acknowledge pre-73 does feel like cheating a bit.

I particularly like the imaginative ward names in Bethnal Green borough. Parts of East Ward are further north than North Ward.

These maps are great for picking up odd detached parts. Eg a bit of Gloucester Rural District in the middle of Gloucester County Borough: maps.nls.uk/view/196758254
