London Assembly members who are councillors have sometimes held on to their council seats - particularly on the Conservative side. Brian Coleman was in the Barnet cabinet while he was on the London Assembly. Richard Barnes retained his seat on Hillingdon. Labour AMs tend to stand down at the next council election rather than immediately. YIVIIS; Steve O'Connell has remained as a Councillor in Croydon throughout his entire time as GLA member for Croydon & Sutton (2008 to date). |

swanarcadian, not really. For a start Bill Boaks was never a credible candidate at any time, which is why his vote share was always so low wherever he stood.

On that subject, the Respect list vote in 2016 was higher than the Respect list vote in 2004 in 36 wards - almost all in outer east London. But the biggest rise (Rainham and Wennington ward, Havering) was only 0.6% - from 0.6% to 1.2%.
