No and it's a proper throwback too but I suppose it still occasionally comes up on the Austrian right. For the record a group of FPÖ MPs asked a parliamentary question in 2001 which forced the then government (the noted far-left Haider-Schüssel coalition) to conduct an investigation, it cleared him of all suspicion. The HomeSecretary said, that there were no proves found. But were they really looking with intent Georg or 'looking' in the 'wrong places' in order to come up with the 'correct answer'?

Long rumoured but never really proven. Do we suspect he has dressed, suppressed or erased the evidence? I'm not sure he's ever been important enough to have the chance! I suspect he's probably never been involved but probably associated with people who might well have.

Will this takes days and days to get any result?

I suspect he's probably never been involved but probably associated with people who might well have. If a government that included Haider couldn't find evidence and his current opponent couldn't find anything to use in the more than elongated election process you'd have to conclude that it isn't there.

Vorarlberg shifted leftwards (v.d.Bellen above 60%).

Yes, looking at the results in so far, v.d.Bellen has won, there's a general small shift towards him.

I checked the betting yesterday and Hofer was 1/3 so a bit of an upset.

I suppose we can't quite rule out an attempt to overturn this on the basis that the wrong typeface was used on the ballots? Anyway, not surprised that there was a swing in that direction given the nature of Hofer's campaign this time round...

I checked the betting yesterday and Hofer was 1/3 so a bit of an upset. What. A. Tremendous. Shame. I really should have birthdays more often. Early hours of the day before we win Richmond Park, on the day Rovers go top of National League, today the far right lose unexpectedly in Austria. Lovely!

If I was Austrian I would've voted for van-der-Bellen, but admittedly seeing the media freak-out and reaction to a Hofer victory would've been amusing.

If the EU has any sense (which I increasingly doubt) it will treat this result as a very lucky escape and will take a step or two back from the policies that nearly led to disaster here.

Van der Bellen won the day vote 52-48, while Hofer won it 52-48 in the original run.
Seems almost all counting areas saw a 1 to 5% swing to Van der Bellen. It's very uniform. Perhaps the same phenomenon we see in France, usually, when an election is rerun due to technicalities, the original winner wins by a bigger margin.

Is turnout up? Could be higher turnout among the young to stop Hofer?
