Well, it will depend on what SPÖVP tells the "independent" ConstitutionalCourt to decide. SPÖ and parts of ÖVP don't want to risk the presidency of v.d.Bellen for obvious reasons, but as a ReRun would probably damage Hofer and FPÖ...

Maybe because if there is a revote ordered it looks like it will be for technical infringements, rather than actual fraud?

Austrians normally punish those responsible for SnapElections (admittingly a poll wants to have found out, that most wouldn't dislike a ReRun this time) and Hofer would be seen as a "bad looser". Also a new poll presents a larger majority for v.d.Bellen (of course within the ErrorMargin).

The ConstitutionalCourt has been meeting ReturningOfficers, presently PartyLawyers. The CC has decided very formalistically in recent years, so that for example the election in Vienna's II.district has to be reconducted in autumn. (FPÖ had also ended minimally behind the GREENS for second place, taking them away the Deputy-DistrictPresident.) But repeating such a divisive election between the candidates of the real Right and the real Left wouldn't please politically, primarily not SPÖVP.

The CC is going to announce its decision in few minutes. New election is highly likely according to InSiders.

And indeed: The election must be fully repeated.

That has been expected for a while now, actually.
Speculation it might not help the FPO given that there was no actual electoral fraud involved - it makes them look like bad losers to some.

Yes, people might be quite upset. 2 polls see only a minimal lead of v.d.Bellen (naturally within the ErrorMargin) though.

Perhaps a new poll would be in order?

Perhaps a new poll would be in order? I've re-opened the existing one.

Holy sh1t. The Brexit vote will surely strengthen the FPO vote though? :/ The opposite! The GREENS issued "Öxit" today, knowing, that - while most FPÖ-voters want it and quasi everyone dislikes the EU - only 3?% of the electorate would risk a departure from the CommonMarket.
