The Tory result shows why attempting to run everywhere isn't always a good idea.

With those figures:

Lab 30.9%
Con 24.2%
Ind (Ashbee) 20.3%
UKIP 19.1%
LD 4.1%
Ind (Mendy) 1.4%

UKIP was reported elsewhere as being 295 not 298.

Good night for Labour - two good gains in the South East from Con and 1 (albeit more expected in Liverpool), also a creditable showing in Kingston.

The LDs will be relieved to hold Kingston (although I'm sure it was much closer than they would have liked) and encouraged by holding up in Chesterfield.

Greens held up very well in Malvern and a creditable showing in Fylde (in both cases I thought the Indy might have cost us votes) and a second place in Liverpool (it's a two-horse race in Riverside ;D ).

Some decent UKIP showings (especially Chesterfield and Thanet) and Tonbridge could provide another when the result comes in.

Not much comfort for the Tories - losing two seats, down most places and two last places in multi-candidate contests. Kingston is probably their best result.
