With the newly elected Conservative MPs for Brecon and Radnorshire & Twickenham (both defeating Lib Dem MPs) resigning their councils seats in Hampton Wick, LB Richmond & Glasbury, Powys and both wards electing Lib Dems are their any other newly elected MPs to help the #LibDemfightback in this way?! Not sure how many of the others in this category are still Councillors? Not a Tory MP - but in Southwark, Neil Coyle (who defeated Simon Hughes) is still a councilor. On initial glance: Marcus Fysh MP appears to still be a Somerset CC Cllr Scott Mann MP still a Cornwall Council Cllr Steve Double was a Cornwall Cllr too but isn't not on the current list so perhaps resigned before the General Election? |

Fysh and Mann's seats would appear to be ripe for picking up too. Fysh's seat, though on new boundaries, was Lib Dem pre-2013 and Mann's seat in Wadebridge would seem to be built on personal vote (as the lack of Tories virtually anywhere else in North Cornwall would seem to suggest). |

Sandra Rylance , UKIP councillor for Chatteris on Cambs CC has sadly died Given our established inability to hold seats at by-elections and the extremely large proportion of our councillors elected over the last couple of years who have had to resign for various reasons, it would be helpful if the remainder would refrain from dying |

I believe she was about to be disqualified for non attendance . A press report quotes her as saying too many demands on her private life to devote the time etc etc |

No clue how it's making being a single mother more difficult, I'm only reporting what she said. I suppose she has less family to rely on to do babysitting. |

There is just 1 by-election in in the last week of August. So far there are 17 during September including a "double" election together with another 10 in October, 7 of which are in Scotland. In addition there are a further 10 known or impending vacancies, all but 2 in England. Currently 24 of the total 87 contests and vacancies occuring since the general election are as a result of the resignations of the sitting councillors as they are now MPs.
