Lynn Adams, SNP Councillor for Hamilton North & East, South Lanarkshire sadly passed away yesterday. This is very sad to hear, she was of no age at all. She also owned the George Bar in Hamilton, which used to be my local when I lived there for a year. |

A high school friend of mine works at the George and got on well with Lynn despite their political difference. |

There are 6 by-elections in the last week of October. So far there are 21 identified during November, including one for 2 seats in Scotland, together with 3 already called in December. In addition there are another 13 known vacancies, 12 in England and 1 in Scotland, where there is as yet no date.
At the moment 26 of the total 136 seats already contested and current vacancies occurring since the general election are as a result of the sitting councillor resigning as they are now MPs.

When I came back from an event in Aberystwyth on Monday, I passed by the Aberystwyth office of Ceredigion County Council and noticed that all the flags were flying at half mast. This, I have been led to assume by past example, means that someone high ranking in Ceredigion's council had died. Now, I know it wasn't the leader (Cllr. ap Gwynne) because she was at the same event and I cannot see any reference on Ceredigion's site to a councillor dying so can anyone shed any light on the reason for those half mast flags?
