Of course, they have done Scottish polls for some time now.
I wonder if Angus Reid will also grace us with the "pleasure" of their presence during the actual campaign?

Talking to my friends who are still in the Lib Dems, they are either:- 1. In total denial, or 2. Resigned to the inevitable, or 3. Like a rabbit caught in a car's headlights!

Or 4. realise that they took the right decision for the benefit of the country as a whole in 2015 even though it would cost the support of idealistic dreamers such as yourself who will now go and vote for a party they campaigned against and opposed for many years . Should that party win power in May , when it all goes wrong you will scratch your head and say not my fault gov .

Mark, I've been through this before! I supported the coalition - but left because of the enthusiasm the leadership showed for policies that I have spent all of my adult life campaigning against. As is absolutely clear, I will not be voting Lib Dem in the GE - but, as it approaches, I can also say that I am not going to be voting Labour or Tory either - definitely not UKIP - and less than 50% chance of voting Green. I'm hoping that I will have a minority candidate that I can support - otherwise I will probably spoil my ballot paper. I will be voting Lib Dem in the local elections - as I have done every year since I first voted in 1977 - including the years since 2012 when I left the party. I would also add that I voted Lib Dem in last year's Euro Election - but cannot in the GE as it would be an endorsement of the party's appalling record in government.

Yes, another slightly sketchy looking pollster. Exactly what the doctor ordered. Quite- better off using a random number generator than Panelbase. Their record in Scotland has been less than stellar, admittedly, but their first fuigures here are pretty much in line with most of the other pollsters (a bit low for LDs, but within moe of their recent average). Whether this shows an improvement for panelbase, a complete fluke or a comment on the accuracy of other pollsters I'll leave for you to decide.

I hate to be pedantic , tony , but the Lib Dem figure is NOT within the M of E . A common misconception even held by Lord Ashcroft apparently despite all the money he spends on polls is that if a poll has a M of E of say 3.5 % then that applies to all the parties polled . In fact the M of E varies according to whatever the real standing of a party is according to the formula ( Y x ( 100 -Y ) / 50 x 50 ) x stated M of E for the poll where Y is the party's true % Therefore if the M of E is stated as 3.5% a party polling at 50% will have a M of E of 3.5% and other figures would be 40% M of E almost unchanged at 3.4% 30% M of E down to around 3 % 20% M of E down to around 2.4 % 15% M of E down to around just under 2.0 % 10% M of E down to around 1.3 % 8% M of E down to around 1.0 % 5% M of E down to around 0.7% Therefore pollster finding lib Dems at 5% and 8% are not within M of E

The majority of those who voted LibDem in 2010 had little expectation that the party would go along with the sheer scale of human misery and wickedness resulting from this Tory-led Govt. They have been fully complicit in terms of the suffering brought to the lives of the poor and vulnerable. To hear them claim that that things would have been even worse had they not entered coalition is a bit like Franz Von Papen and Alfred Hugenberg seeking to justify themselves in 1937 on the basis that had they not entered coalition with A Hitler in January 1933 the Nazis would have opened even more concentration camps and carried out yet more extreme measures.

Oh come along , no government is perfect and this one like all others has made mistakes but " suffering brought to the lives of the poor and vulnerable " is pure hyperbole born out of the highest political partisanship .

Oh come along , no government is perfect and this one like all others has made mistakes but " suffering brought to the lives of the poor and vulnerable " is pure hyperbole born out of the highest political partisanship . One of the most commonly cited reason for people using foodbanks is benefit changes. Disabled people have repeatedly claimed that changes to disability benefits is causing them additional hardship. You might claim that these people are unusual exceptions, or that this government has done things that will benefit them in the long run, meaning that the net impact on them is positive. But I don't see how you can say that coalition policies have not caused at least some poor and vulnerable people to suffer. At best, you can say that this sort of criticism is overblown exaggeration, but it's disingenuous to say that it's pure hyperbole.
