What, Liberals being liberal? Naughty Arthur.... (Part 3 in an ongoing series...) I'm a liberal (hence not a Liberal). I'm allowed to make these barbed comments.

Anyone know how one can get from that page to overall results? I can't find it. There is another results page but I think it's mainly projections: www.politiko.dk/valgresultat#/

Whatever government that comes out of this has the potential to be a ridiculous trainwreck...

Danish TV putting the DPP on 34% in Tinglev, up 20 points on the last election. Tinglev isn't traditional DPP territory, and was once part of the German-speaking areas. It's also part of Aabenraa, which has a Social Democrat mayor. So this is a bit strange. EDIT: I note the chap has referred to it therefore as "Losertown"- which presumably wouldn't have been the case if it had continued to vote the way he wanted it to...

Here's a curious one. Tarnby (covering part of Amager, the island to the south east of Copenhagen) has almost always had a SD majority. Tonight, it appears that the DPP came within 100 votes of topping the poll.

Tonight, it appears that the DPP came within 100 votes of topping the poll. Venstre topped the poll there last time round (SD's are always much stronger in local elections in and around the big city). What is curious, given results elsewhere, is it was one of only two districts in the country where the DPP topped the poll in the 2009 European Elections.

Biggest increases for the DPP in the south of Jutland (where they ended up leading pretty much everywhere other than Esbjerg proper).

AC, Brussels will ponder the result and conclude that Denmark needs "more Europe."

I notice the Alternative wasn't an option in our poll.

So the leader of the party who topped the poll and increased their vote resigns and the leader of the party who lost more than quarter of their seats and came third becomes PM. Strange world.

Yet again demonstrating how toxic immigration can be for the centre-left.
And another illustration that simply trying to "out-b***ard" the right on it won't work. But nor will blithely ignoring it and just asserting that everything about free movement and multiculturalism is wonderful and anybody who disagrees is merely a racist. Whoever comes up with a "solution" to this one will be much feted (and maybe rich)

That is the essence of diverse parties and consequent need for coalition, shift, split and muddle. Long may we be preserved from this Continental abortion of a system by the rigour of FPTP.

Gael/Hash being an objectively good person has already obliged elsewhere, and I'm sure he won't mind me reposting his work here: Which also gives me a good excuse to not bother with leading party or bloc maps (for now at least) and to just get stuck in on party vote stuff.
