After this weekend's events in Copenhagen I won't be surprised to see a swing to the Danish People's Party.

Normally, major terror incidents tend to increase support for the governing party. There are exceptions if the government misplays its hand, Spain in 2004 being the most significant.

Denmark has just the sort of electoral and party systems that I would favour for the UK - open list D'Hondt and pre-arranged Blue vs Red coalitions.

I've voted for the Social Liberal Party, but I'm not at all sure as my experience of their Youth wing is that they tend to be too left wing on economics and not hawkish enough on military matters (I'm about as hawkish as Lib Dems get). My ideal would probably be a coalition of the three Liberal Parties plus the Social Democrats, although I've seen no evidence that Denmark could go Dutch when it comes to coalitions.

Parties are ordered on the ballot by official letter rather than by name. The letters come from the 1943 election (when Denmark was under Nazi military occupation: the four democratic parties were labeled as A, B, C and D and won a landslide) and have stuck.

I take it there was a post between Sibboleth's last two posts which has now been removed.

Hadn't noticed. Are we reduced to that then? Brave New World! Well, it's the choice of the administrator. So, go complain at Kristopher.
