Who would you vote for David? I'd throw myself in the river. I'd move to Green Lanes.

It was always Cypriot (of either variety) anyway, wasn't it?
Apart from my cousins* who live there, who are Italian.
*cousins in the Italian sense- as in not actually related.

There are of course still Greek cypriots but all the restaurants and cafes and shops are Turkish. And a lot are actually Kurdish rather than Turkish. It was always quite interesting that although a lot of both cypriot populations were here because they had been displaced by the other, there was never any trouble between them - at least not in the last twenty five years. Enfield probably has more Greek Cypriots now - or at least the centre of gravity has shifted.

The Greens will not be standing and support SYRIZA. Not sure whether they're getting anyone on SYRIZA's list or if they've just thrown in the towel. EDIT: Looks like they're going to be on their list.

I vote for the Independent Greeks, but given the winners bonus system I could quite easily be persuaded to vote tactically for New Democracy

This parliament could see much fewer parties as the fight is between two destinys.

This parliament could see much fewer parties as the fight is between two destinys. I think you could be right. Today's Rass poll indicated this with both large parties advancing by over 3% and the other parties falling back. If you loom at the details of the opinion polls you will see that when they ask questions directly about who people prefer as PM Samaras has a healthy lead over Tsipras and a large proportion of the population express concern over the prospect of a SYRIZA government. ND could well pick up a lot of tactical votes. Having said that the argument reminds me too much of the Cameron argument for voting Conservative. I am not a fan of tactical voting that's why I ticked Independent Greeks.

Cousin, as in someone you borrowed a lawnmower from once.
(in this case, a family who came from Italy in the 50s and rented a room from my grandparents, and have stayed close friends since)

Pasok was a mechanism for milking the Greek state for lots of cash. Given the country's finances, presumably the Movement for Change will milk the state for spare change. To be fair this latest Papandreau did try and introduce reforms but totally failed in doing so. Both Greek parties are utterly mired in years of corruption. So I'd vote for Syriza as the best means of dealing with that.
