Well, fair play to Syriza. Their angry rhetoric seems to have turned into (on tax at least) a fairly realistic take on what Greece needs to sort itself out. They now seem to be annoying some real far-left fruitcakes, which is probably a sign they're doing the right thing!

Nothing can move forward in the case at all, until Assange is in Sweden. Do you accept that as a matter of fact? "Julian Assange case: Sweden U-turn on questioning" www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-31867829I'm not going to hang around for your apology/retraction on this one, but I'm interested in what your explanation of why it is in fact the Swedish legal system - and not you - that is now wrong here. By the way, the cost to the UK taxpayer for this 4-year delay by the Swedish prosecutor is now over £10m.

All parties agree that the sex took place, so I dont see what DNA could be used to prove.

Well, we have Assange where we know where he is. He cannot move or lead a normal life. And it is all paid for by Ecuador. Just about perfect for all concerned except Assange. Love it.

It will make no difference to anything even if held, even if massive party changes.
While on the subject, I still cannot see why any country would willingly bail out Greece, or the purpose for doing it, or the possible benefit to the the bailers. Even more so, any possible benefit to the ordinary citizens who are being taxed to provide largesse to a country with a more than 2-decades of total failure to effectively tax their own citizens. What on earth is this about? Why would anyone wish to part with hard earned cash to be given to a feckless bunch of disorganized scroungers?
If there were no further bailouts what detriment would there be to the EU, the European economy, the euro, and all the non-Greek citizens? I would suggest that there would not only be no detriment but an actual benefit to not bail out. It would thrust the entire impetus back where it should be...in Greece and with badly run banks and foolish bond holders. Greece would go into a series of defaults correctly because they have debts they cannot service and will never service, let alone repay. Those debts will then be written down and some other non-Greek banks will be very hard hit and some may fail. Bond holders will lose everything. All of that is good for it leaves the pain where the pain should be, with the bad lenders and with the bad borrower.
Greece must shift for itself then. It will have lost the debt and the cost of debt servicing which it does not deserve. Now it must fund its own civil service (and slim it down) and pay its own welfare and pensions (and slim them down) and raise taxes from everyone in order to accomplish it. The lack of a bail out will compel it to do the right thing or starve, or descend into chaos. Their call. Their fault. Their solution.
I hope ordinary Germans and Dutch will rebel against their old parties and give them a deserved hiding at every up coming election.

Apparently Greece could be heading for an snap election to be announced at 6pm. How much does it cost to hold each election in Greece? They must have plenty of money available to keep having them every five minutes.

Greece, the country that keeps giving. The opinion polls show SYRZIA with a huge lead and will win a overall majority.
I guess the Greek pm is using this election to get rid of dissenters from his party.
Can we unlock the poll and let's see if there is any change amongst the forum and who we would vote for.

A snap election for the 20th September is hardly snap, is it. The last one was done and dusted in slightly over three weeks.

Then we can work out swings.
