Very sad news that Tim Oliver the leader of Walsall Labour party has died less than 48 hours after finally gaining control of the council. I did not always agree with him but he was always someone willing to have a pint and laugh with.
Will be much missed within the party.
His seat was Birhills-Leamore

...and there is a vacancy in the Old Laund Booth ward of Pendle BC following the resignation of Cllr John David (Liberal Democrat) due to poor health. Hope he gets well soon.

I am going to make an early, and therefore reckless, prediction. MK-PC to gain Illogan and, depending on the candidates before I will predit who wins, UKIP to lose Mabe, Perranarworthal and St Gluvias.

For real bizarreness, about 30 seconds from the house my wife grew up in in Fareham (where the in-laws still live) there is a road called Winnington. Not close or lane or road just Winnington. What are the odds?! |
